Bali Botanic Garden (Indonesian: Kebun Raya Bali) is a large tropical botanic park located in Bali situated in Bedugul region, Candikuning Village, Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency, in the central highland of Bali island about 56 kilometres from Denpasar City. Bali Botanical Garden Bedugul was formerly known as Eka Karya Botanical Garden, is situated at an altitude of 1250-1450 above sea level, having a place of 157.5 hectares.
The temperature at Kebun Raya Bali is currently 17 – 25°C during daytime and 10° – 15°C during nighttime, with all the humidity of 70 – 90 percent. People are recommended to prepare raincoats, umbrellas or hot clothing since the weather is tough to predict.

Background Bali Botanic Garden – Kebun Raya Bali
The idea of Prof Dr Kusnoto Setiodiwiryo has launched the background of Bali Botanic Garden. Kusnoto Setyodiwiryo, President of the Board of the Environmental Research Center who’s also the Head of the Indonesian Botanic Gardens, intended to set up a branch of the Botanical Gardens outside Java. In this case, Bali was chosen for the ideal place.
Approach to the Provincial Government of Bali until in 1958 the authorities in Bali were supplied to establish the Botanical Gardens in Bali starting in 1955. Under the agreement, the Botanical Garden covers an area of 50 hectares of reforestation and woods Candikuning next to the Nature Reserve Batukau. Right on the date of July 15, 1959, “Eka Karya” Botanical Garden was inaugurated by Prof. Ir. Kusnoto Setyodiwiryo, Director of The Indonesian Institute of Sciences as a realization of this decree of Head Regional Level 1 Bali January 19, 1959, No. 19/E.3/2/4.
The name “Eka Karya” to Bali Botanic Garden suggested by I Made Taman. “Eka” signifies One and “Karya” means the work outcomes. So “Eka Karya” could be translated as the first botanical garden, which is the real work of the Indonesian country itself after Indonesian independence.
